All Petarians will
recall the Aeromodeling club at Cadet College Petaro.
On Parents' Day, when we had Sind regiment fire guns,
the leftovers from parade would do a war demo with small
planes flying overhead. The Aeromodeling Club belongs
to Petaro legacy just like riding, shooting and the
parade.
The tradition of Aeromodelling Club started when CCP was
established in 1959. The first officer in charge of the
club was Prof. M.A. Bhatti (late), and the first
president of the club was (late) Sultan Ahmed Khan
Afridi 33/Jinnah. Hundreds of cadets have benefited from
this club during these past 52 years.
During 2007-2010
however, the club was not really functioning as it did
not have model aircraft and other equipment for the
cadets to use or learn from. It thus was reduced only
to a theoretical club. In order to rejuvenate this
tradition of Petaro, the Petarian Foundation decided to
provide model aircraft and equipment in order to benefit
the cadets. After discussion with the In Charge of the
Club, Mr. Farhan Hussain, the Foundation has donated the
equipment to the club valued at Rs. 118,000.
The main equipment includes Two Trainer Aircraft with
petrol engines made in Japan, remote controls made in
Japan, and a Flight Simulator software. In addition a
complete lot of spare parts were also given to ensure
that these are maintained.
